"I'm Dr. Ashton and I've been helping adults with OCD & Panic for over 20 years. I exclusively use evidence-based treatment for anxiety. Most clients begin noticing meaningful progress within days or weeks."

What I Treat:
  • Panic Disorder with Agoraphobia

Panic Attacks: Hard To Endure, Easy To Treat

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Truly a Disease of Doubting Yourself

This practice may be a good fit if you're looking for a direct, compassionate, skills-based approach rather than open-ended talk therapy alone.

Dr. Ashton is a licensed psychologist with a specialization in anxiety disorders who provides evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for adult populations via teletherapy. Dr. Ashton received her doctorate of psychology from Spalding University in 2001 and completed her postdoctoral training in anxiety disorders at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute, a nationally-acclaimed treatment center for anxiety disorders and an affiliate of St. Louis University, where she remained on as a staff psychologist for 11 years.

Dr. Ashton offers anxiety treatment for the full spectrum of anxiety disorders, from mild to severe, but focuses primarily on: Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Panic Disorder with and without Agoraphobia.  She utilizes exposure based therapy and exposure and response prevention (ERP) techniques for OCD and provides panic resilience training for panic disorder. Evidence-based treatment with CBT is considered short-term therapy and usually only requires about 8-10 visits for most cases due to its high levels of success. Treatment is active and skills-based designed to help clients begin seeing meaningful progress within weeks, not years. If you've been in therapy for a while without much relief, it may be worth trying a more specialized, exposure-based approach.

Depression can sometimes develop when anxiety has been exhausting or limiting someone's life for a long time. In those cases, mood often improves as anxiety decreases and life starts to open back up again.

Austin Center for Anxiety doesn't discriminate based on race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender expression, religious views, or disability.
